The Trout Underground posted a story about PB2 Peanut Butter Powder and I knew it might just be the world’s most perfect backpacking food.
I ordered a jar of PB2 with Chocolate from Amazon and simply poured some of the powder in a ziplock bag for a trip.
Mixing some up while stuck in a tent during a brief rainstorm, I formed little peanut butter cracker sandwiches and they were goooood.
Be careful that you slowly add water to the mix or it goes from not-quite-there to runny in a flash. Easy to fix as long as you have more powder to add in. The second time I mixed up a batch I slowly added dribbles of water and stirred and it came out perfectly.
The powder itself can be a little unruly (like flour — hard to pour) and the time spend cleaning the bowl was a little consuming, but fun to do — like intercepting Mom’s nearly empty frosting bowl between finishing the cake and the sink.
