A couple of years ago I hung my ski poles from the garage ceiling on vinyl hooks. I live in an area where it can reach 110 degrees in the summer. The next winter I discovered the baskets on my poles were crooked.
I realized the heat of the summer had softened the glue holding the baskets on and they slow twisted on the pole shafts until they were hanging straight down — but no longer in line with the handles.
It was an easy fix. Grab a hair dryer and heat up the basket at the shaft and twist the basket back in alignment once softened enough.
To avoid this, I make sure my poles are resting in those hooks with the baskets naturally hanging straight down when I put them away that final time in the Spring. That way if it does get hot, they’re already hanging straight down.
